Keep Your at Home Based Business Running Like a Fine Tuned Machine!

Chances are if you're just starting your new at home based business you've found that there are some things about it you absolutely love. Like there's no boss breathing down your neck, your commute is seconds instead of many long minutes (maybe hours), the dress code is whatever you want it to be for the day -- some prefer pj's, I'm into sweats -- and you're pretty much calling the shots on your schedule. Sweet!

After a couple of weeks though, you might think you've suddenly developed a case of Adult onset Attention Deficit Disorder -- or AADD for short. It happens -- suddenly you're the boss and you decide you need to get a load of laundry done, or pay some personal bills, or mow the lawn, or run to the grocery store, or do your email, or work on your business plan, or get the marketing strategy put together, or update your website, or take the kids to soccer. Whew!

Here are a couple of my very most critical hints to keep our work from home life running smoothly:

First and foremost - get some structure into your day. You need to figure out what is going to work best for you. If you've decided to work from home so that you can have the flexibility to "multi-task" with home tasks and work tasks, that's just fine! Just figure out what needs to get done during the week, prioritize it, then plan your week accordingly.

Maybe you can plan your mornings to be all work and no play or outside chores. You get yourself to your home office -- wherever that is, and you work. Do NOT start your day answering emails. The only reason to check email is to see if any new orders have come in overnight that need to be dealt with. You should be able to tell which are orders and which are other things -- all other things wait!

If morning is the time of day that's best to connect with your clients, do it then. Get the important things out of the way first. An use some kind of contact management software or other calendaring software to so you can keep track of what you've done throughout the day and can get a feeling of accomplishment when you check off the items on your to-do-list at the end of the day. (You do have a to-do-list don't you? If not, that's the first tip for getting your at home based business running like a finely tuned machine.)

The next thing I recommend is to grow your network and keep growing it. This might be a little more difficult if you've starting work from home and you've started to get in the grove of staying at home. It can be tough to get out and meet people, to schmooze, to build those relationships, but that is so critical to the success of your business. Whether you're an in a home based internet business, or you've got an online home based business opportunity, or if you're in a preschool business from your home, you've got to develop relationships with people who you can help and who can help you.

Finally - celebrate small successes! You've got to take some time to a.) recognize your successes and they could be very small and b.)celebrate them. Perhaps you'll have been stumped over some problem and spent an inordinate amount of time to find the right fix. When you do, recognize your accomplishment and celebrate it! Your celebrations don't have to be big, but they do have to be recognizable as celebrations. Treat yourself to some small token of appreciation if the job was small and some larger token, if the job was larger. Include your family in the celebrations.

If you just keep these three tips in mind as you start you At Home Based Business, you will surely have your business running smooth as a top!

Work at Home Jobs That Aren't Scams

Finding Legitimate Work at Home
You've probably learned by now that finding legitimate work at home opportunity is no an easy task. There are countless scams which are like wolves in sheep's clothing. They appear to be above board but they really aren't. Some never pay at all. They just charge you a membership and thats all you've got. Others actually do pay, but after a few simple calculations you learn that with the time you've spent marketing their product, you're earning about half of minimum wage.
It's time to Stop the Madness.

Stop wasting your time and money filling out surveys for pennies and soliciting others to join multi level marketing referral programs.

If you don't have young children at home, and can guarantee a quiet working environment, customer service and sales phone work is a great opportunity. Many companies like West and Live Ops which I can personally vouch for, allow you to set your own hours. They both give bonuses although Live Ops does pay about $3-$12 more per hour depending on how good you are at upselling.

Below is a long list of real work at customer service/phone jobs. Some I have actually been hired for, or know other wahm moms who have. As with any employment opportunity, be sure to research each opportunity to verify that it is right for you.

Examples Of Data Entry Jobs

Thanks to the ever-growing development of technology and the desire to work outside of an office, the data entry industry has become a popular job choice for individuals looking for a change. More and more people are being drawn to data entry for its abundance of jobs and flexible hours. One of the biggest perks of the job is the ability for employees to do their work from just about anywhere and, although many of these people work from home, there are still opportunities to work in a traditional office setting. This variety opens up more job opportunities and enables more people to get and maintain work.
There are some great online sites geared toward finding data entry work that can be done from the comforts of home. WorkDataEntryHome.com is a sponsored site that posts hundreds of jobs from various employers and businesses. The site is equipped with a helpful search bar that allows anyone to search all of the jobs and filter out the positions that do not pertain to their individual skills. Work-at-Home-King.com is another helpful site that matches individuals to the best jobs for them. The site separates the programs into different categories, including one special selection just for women and free services. The site also allows people to join several programs at once to increase their chances of finding a job.
Rather than working for a company at home, some people choose to work for online based companies or businesses that prefer to conduct business via the Internet. Blurtit.com is a well-designed and easy to use website that is filled with useful tools to make finding data entry work easier. The site takes cues from the Internet and has begun using the blog as a way to help others find work and post questions and concerns for experienced individuals to answer. Blurtit.com is split into various categories and is a great place to research and find out the most about data entry before entering the field.
Sologig.com is an online site that provides jobs in the data entry field as well as in other fields. The site separates the job listings by category, helping to ease the searching process. Also, another company called Aerotek provides a good place to look for online data entry jobs. The company has over 150 offices around the U.S. and Canada, where they have experienced workers available to help find data entry jobs. Aerotek lists new jobs on the site regularly, and the staff strives to find the job that meets each individual’s qualifications. Although the majority of the clients end up working online, the company also offers jobs in more traditional workplaces.
While many people enjoy the convenience of working from home or online, there are also some great job opportunities in an office environment. One online resource to take advantage of to find data entry work in an office setting is DiversityWorking.com. This site links users to tons of different employers all over the country who are looking for trained individuals to do their company’s data entry work. The positions are in a variety of different fields and provide a lot of variety from which to choose. Each job also comes with a detailed job description, what would be expected of a potential employee, the type of training needed, and a description of the work place. The site shows some examples of wages and earnings that particular employers pay, giving a complete view of the job position. DiversityWorking also features certain jobs each week and gives a list of the hottest jobs available at that time.
Data entry is one of the most versatile jobs, allowing individuals to work at home, online, or in an office. Its growing popularity is no surprise, and more and more people are looking to data entry as a way to make extra money or start their careers.

Home-Based Business – Keep Home Out Of Work And Work Out Of Home

Depending on who’s counting, there are between 18 million and 38 million home-based business operating in the United States. In fact, over 52% of all small businesses are home-based. And the phenomenon is growing. Clearly, more and more people are discovering the satisfaction and financial reward of business ownership and the advantages of working from home.

However, along with these advantages come a number of potential problems. One of the most persistent issues for home-based workers is the simple fact that they are conducting a professional activity from their home. The ideal situation is to create a good balance between your work life and your home life even when the commute has been reduced to walking from one room to another.

Get dressed for work
It’s great to spend the day working in your bathrobe but many people say that when they are dressed for leisure, their attitude, voice presence on the telephone and work habits become leisurely as well.

Get a separate phone line
It’s hard to project a professional image when your voicemail says, “Hi, you’ve reached GJT Catering and also the home of Gail, John, Timmy and Scout (woof, woof). Please leave a message.” Potential clients may worry that their message will be received by Timmy, not Gail or John, or whoever is actually the business owner. Plus, on a shared line, you may miss calls when the line is tied up with family issues.

Keep regular hours
Keep regular business hours or at least say that you do, even if you’re more likely to produce those corporate communications at odd hours of the night. Clients like to know how they can reach a business owner and are often uncomfortable calling in the evening when they know it’s a home business. (Of course, there are also those clients who believe that because it’s a home business, you are available 24/7.)

The second big reason is, especially if you’re a mom, working from home can translate to other people as “available during the day” for PTO activities, child pickup and snow day babysitting while “working moms” go off to their places of employment. Of course, it may be that part of the reason you work from home is precisely to be available for these activities. If so, just be sure that you have defined the parameters by advertising your “work hours” then adjusting at your own discretion.

Keeping regular hours is also a good way to tell yourself it’s time to quit and get in some personal or family time.

Maintain a barrier between your work space and your home space
Even though your client may say they understand, no business person really wants to have a telephone conversation with someone whose child is audible in the background. This very typical scenario will lead your client to wonder if you can really pay attention to what they are saying when there are clearly family issues going on at the same time. The ability to shut a door and limit the sounds of home life will lend a much more professional tone to your business.
On the other hand, a door or some other barrier allows you to walk away from the job when it’s time to re-enter family life without being tormented by the piles on your desk or the lure of the computer screen.

Get some exercise and stay out of the fridge
Some people who begin to work from home find that they can better schedule exercise because their time is their own. However, for many, they are no longer walking up the stairs to the office, taking a stroll through the park at lunch or stopping by the gym on the way home. Moreover, the fridge is available, the food is free and no one’s looking. The stress of being a business owner combined with the change in lifestyle can create a less healthy lifestyle. Do yourself a favor and make exercise and healthy food a part of your home office routine.

Take advantage of the advantages
It’s great to be able to take a break from your work, pay a few bills, put a chicken in the oven and take a minute to check in with your teen when he gets home after school. Take advantage of these perks without guilt; you deserve to enjoy your work-at-home life.
